With ‘Doctor’ Out, These Films May Clash With ‘Annaatthe’ & ‘Maanadu’

With Arya starrers ‘Enemy‘ and ‘Aranmanai 3‘ hogging the Dussehra limelight, Kollywood is looking to give us some huge, interesting releases for the next major festive occasion, Diwali, this November. The first film to announce a Diwali theatrical release was Silambarasan‘s ‘Maanadu‘, a political action thriller written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. Post this, the makers of Rajnikanth starrer ‘Annaatthe‘, helmed by Siva, released a motion poster earlier this week announcing its theatrical release this Diwali. The Suriya starrer ‘Jai Bhim‘ is also slated for a Diwali release, albeit a digital one, on Amazon Prime Video.

However, as though this string of films wasn’t enough, a few big-ticket movies are done with filming and waiting for release, one of the most anticipated ones being actor Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Doctor’. While some rumours were doing the rounds that the film was looking at a Diwali release, the makers quickly announced that it would hit theatres in October itself. With this film out of the way, here are some of the huge releases that may look at a November 4th release, thereby clashing with ‘Annaatthe’ and ‘Maanadu’.

1. BORRDER

Arun Vijay‘s patriotic drama ‘Borrder‘ was ready and could have released this Independence day, had theatres in Tamil Nadu reopened earlier. Lead actor Arun Vijay has taken on the role of an army officer for the first time in ‘Borrder’ and his look is being highly appreciated. Directed by Arivazhagan, the film also stars Regina Cassandra and Stefy Patel. The recently released trailer has crossed 5 million views on YouTube and has been trending ever since its release. Even as rumours say the film may release in October or late November, it is highly likely that the film could see a November 4th release, this Diwali.

2. VALIMAI

The Ajith starrer has also completed filming and its post production work is in full swing. Also starring Huma Qureshi, Karthikeyan, Yogi Babu and Sumithra among others, the makers have released the first look, motion poster and a single so far, having set up enough buzz for the film. Reports suggest that the teaser and a making-of-the-movie clip is expected next week. Amidst rumours that the film is looking at a December release, ‘Valimai‘ may surprise audiences and very well arrive early for Diwali.

3. BAGHEERA

Actor Prabhudeva‘s psychological mystery thriller ‘Bagheera‘ impressed fans with the trailer and heightened expectations with posters featuring lead actor Prabhudeva in multiple shades. The film directed by Adhik Ravichandran, is a remake of the 2015 South Korean movie ‘Veteran’ and also features Amyra Dastur, Sakshi Agarwal, Janani Iyer and Gopinath Ravi in pivotal roles. The 2021 summer release has been delayed for months now and the makers are preparing to release the film very soon, meaning it could also see a festive release this Diwali.
