‘Woh 3 Din’, ‘Zwigato’ & More Off-Beat Films To Look Forward To!

‘Woh 3 Din’, ‘Zwigato’ & More Off-Beat Films To Look Forward To!

As many blockbuster films may come and go it’s those off beat heartwarming films that stay longer in people’s minds and hearts. Even though they might not bring in box office collections in huge numbers they deserve the praise as much as any other film.

The way such feel good movies deliver a message and are also overwhelming without burdening you with excess of any particular emotion is an art in itself. Also, it’s the ace performers, who generally aren’t those Mass superstars, in these films who bring to life such memorable characters that tend to stay with us.

Films like ‘Udaan’, ‘Lunch Box’, ‘Iqbal’, ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’, ‘Masaan’, ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’, ‘Is Love Enough? Sir’ and many more have been impressing viewers with their offbeat themes. While we love watching our favourite stars in tentpole films, there are time when resorting to such simple films gives utmost comfort.

Coming to some recent upcoming off beat cinema we have a list here to look forward to:

Woh 3 Din

Directed by Raaji Aashoo and written by Seepi Jha, ‘Woh 3 Din’ is a heartwarming story of a hard working rickshawala (Sanjay Mishra) and goes through the journey of hilarious ups and downs. The film has already won two international awards and is now set to release in cinemas on 30th September, 2022. Given that it will be clashing with biggies like ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ amd ‘Vikram Vedha’, it’s bound to be lost but if you are looking for something non-action around that time this film could be your choice.

Holy Cow

This is another one starring Sanjay Mishra alongside Tigmanshu Dhulia, Sadiya Siddiqui and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in guest appearance. The film is a comedy drama based on a one night adventure of Salim Ansari searching for his missing cow Ruksar. It is written and directed by Sai Kabir (‘Revolver Rani’, ‘The Shaukeens’, ‘Kismat Konnection’) and will release on 26th August, 2022.

Nazar Andaaz

‘Nazar Andaaz’ is a slice of life comedy drama film directed by Vikrant Deshmukh and stars Divya Dutta, Kumud Mishra, Abhishek Banerjee and Rajeshwari Sachdev in lead roles. The film is all about finding the beauty of life through different perspectives. The film will release in theatres on 7th October, 2022.

Chakki

A common man’s struggle story with the prevalent complex system of the government in the country, ‘Chakki’ is set in Bhopal and stars Rahul Bhat (‘Section 375’) and Priya Bapat (‘City of Dreams’). Satish Munda serves as the writer and director for the film which will hit the big screens on 7th October, 2022.

Bas Karo Aunty

This young adult drama comes from filmmaker couple Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwini Iyer Tiwari. Starring a fresh lead cast of Ishwak Singh and Mahima Makwana the film is touted to be a joyous ride about living your life society versus living for happiness. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s ‘Roy Kapur Films banner. The film will release soon in theatres.

Zwigato

Applause Entertainment’s Nandita Das directorial film ‘Zwigato’ is already receiving much praise at the international film festivals and will soon be available for Indian viewers. The film starring Kapil Sharma as a food delivery agent with Shahana Goswami playing the role of his wife had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2022 and then went on to deliver at the Busan International Film Festival.

The film is about an ex-floor manager of a factory who loses his job during the pandemic. He then works as a food delivery rider, grappling with the world of ratings and incentives. To support the income, his homemaker wife begins to explore different work opportunities, with fear but also excitement of a new found independence. The film is about the relentlessness of life, but not without their shared moments of joy. It captures the lives of invisible ‘ordinary’ people, hidden in plain sight.
