Despite the ongoing creative overhaul led by Kevin Feige at Marvel Studios, which aims to focus more on project quality and limit output, it seems the production house will still be delivering plenty of content to fans this year, including the much-anticipated Wonder Man Disney+ series, led by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley.
Speaking of Wonder Man, Marvel has revealed that the Disney+ series will premiere in December 2025. It will feature eight episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of TV and animation, announced that the studio plans to be more selective with its Disney+ content. The goal is to prioritise shows with the potential for multiple seasons. According to Winderbaum, Marvel intends to release two live-action series and two animated series per year.
Given Wonder Man’s shorter episode format (30-minute episodes), it appears Marvel is aiming to extend the series across multiple seasons.
This year, Marvel’s live-action Disney+ series will include Ironheart, premiering on June 24, and Wonder Man, which arrives later in the year. While both shows are being developed with the potential for additional seasons, the studio will ultimately base that decision on their reception.
Marvel Studios has yet to reveal official plot details for Wonder Man. However, we do know the showrunners are Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. Cretton, best known for directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is also set to direct Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland. He has directed the first two episodes of Wonder Man. Stay tuned for more updates.
