The wacky chocolatier film, “Wonka,” debuted at No. 1 in North America, earning $39 million. Internationally, it garnered $43.2 million in its opening weekend and has since accumulated $53.6 million, totaling a global box office of $151.4 million.
Wonka’s key markets include the U.K. with $23.2 million, Mexico with $11.2 million, and Germany with $8.6 million.
With numbers like these, Timothée Chalamet will also near the feat of scoring two back-to-back $200M blockbusters at the box office, as he repeated the same instance with Dune Part 1.
“Wonka,” directed by Paul King, garners positive reviews and audience enthusiasm, aiming to sustain momentum during the bustling holiday season. Released in December, it competes with festive films like “Migration,” “The Color Purple,” and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
