The second season of the wrestling drama series ‘Heels’ premiered on Indian OTT on the Lionsgate Play streaming service just a few days back. But now, amidst the backdrop of the much talked about cancel culture at various networks and streaming platforms, it has been confirmed that the Starz series ‘Heels’ won’t be getting another season after its two-season run.
The series focuses on the rivalry between two brothers (played by Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig) set amidst the backdrop of small-town pro wrestling. The brothers fight in scripted matches as they war over their deceased father’s wrestling legacy. One brother is portrayed as the villain (heel) and the other brother is shown as the hero (face). ‘Heels Season-1’ is streaming in India on Amazon Prime Video and both its seasons are also streaming on Lionsgate Play.
And it’s not just ‘Heels’ which has been cancelled at Starz, but three more series namely ‘Run the World’, ‘Blindspotting’, and ‘The Venery of Samantha Bird’ are no longer moving forward with their respective seasons.
‘Run the World’ is a comedy series which revolves around the lives of a group of women residing in Harlem who strive for world domination. Both the seasons are streaming in India on Lionsgate Play.
‘Blindspotting’ tells the story of how a woman’s life suddenly takes an adverse turn after her partner gets locked up, thereby forcing her to live with his mother and sister. Both the seasons are streaming in India on Lionsgate Play and the first season on Amazon Prime Video.
The last show ‘The Venery of Samantha Bird’ has been cancelled even before airing its opening season, which was on the verge of completion. It was to feature Kathrene Langford in the lead role.
