The final of the 2025 ICC World Test Championship (June 11–15) is being contested at Lord’s, London, between defending champions Australia and first-time finalists South Africa. Indian viewers can watch the highly anticipated “Ultimate Test” on JioHotstar or the Star Sports network. However, many viewers in India have expressed dissatisfaction with the live stream of the match.
A significant section of Indian cricket fans is unhappy with JioHotstar and the Star Sports network for focusing more on the upcoming India vs England Test series (now being promoted as the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy 2025) during the live stream of the ongoing WTC Final between Australia and South Africa.
I just opened @JioHotstar to watch the prematch show of the WTC Final... They're promoting the IND vs ENG test series in the show, with the first ball to be bowled in 20 minutes..

This year, India did not qualify for the WTC Final. As a result, JioHotstar and Star Sports have seen a noticeable drop in viewership for this prestigious ICC event. Fans are criticising both platforms for diverting attention from the ongoing final by over-promoting the forthcoming India vs England series in advertisements, as well as during the pre-match and post-match shows.
Cricket fans in India are passionate followers of the game, which is why they expect respectful and full attention to a global ICC final, not just India-centric marketing.
Moreover, the cricketing rivalry between India and England doesn’t need excessive promotion, given its already intense and historic nature, especially not during the broadcast of the WTC Final. The five-match series is set to begin on June 20. Stay tuned for more updates.
