When Marvel and Disney creatively decided to continue their journey with “X-Men ’97,” it brought waves of happiness all around. The overwhelming appreciation overshadowed the nostalgia, making the series one of the best ones Marvel has ever produced.
As the studio plans to revive more retro series, especially “Spider-Man ’98,” we must see how significant “X-Men ’97” has become in recent weeks.
Firstly, it not only revived the retro storyline but also continued the same style of animation, which was a good touch. Secondly, the Magneto storyline was particularly interesting. The show was well-paced, focusing on grand comic events as well as strong character development.
But the best thing the show did was win over the hearts of the fans.
This is now reflected in the Rotten Tomatoes ratings. “X-Men ’97” shares the stage with another underappreciated Marvel show, “Ms. Marvel,” which has a 98% fresh critic rating—an absolutely astounding statistic.
It is surprising to see “Ms. Marvel” rated so highly, especially given the backlash it received after its release. However, it holds immense importance, as she is the first mutant of the MCU, followed by Wolverine in the new “Deadpool” film.
