Marvel Studios has unveiled the brand new trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series, X-Men ‘97, the revival of the original series, X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-97). The show will be a part of Marvel Studios Animation, with Beau DeMayo serving as its creator and head writer.
The new X-Men ‘97 trailer opens with a television screen, showing the finale of X-Men: TAS. Nostalgia hits hard when we see Professor Charles Xavier bid farewell to his X-Men. It is the moment when Xavier is left with no choice but to go with Lilandra to her home world, Shi’ar, for his cure, after Henry Peter Gyrich attacks and cripples him. The final scene shows all X-Men and Magneto standing outside the X-Mansion to say goodbye to Charles Xavier as he prepares to leave with Lilandra for his treatment. We also hear Catherine Disher’s voice as Jean Grey: “Fate lies in our hands now.”
X-Men ‘97 will serve as a continuation of the original 1992-97 series. Based on the trailer, the show will focus on how X-Men perform under the leadership of Magneto, who becomes the owner of Xavier’s mansion and his property. We can also see a group of humans protesting against the mutants in the latest clip.
Mutants in the Marvel universe are considered a threat by humans. Unlike other superheroes like Thor, Iron Man, and Spider-Man, who are immensely popular among the public, mutants are considered a serious threat to humanity due to their capabilities and potential to replace the entire human race. Some mutants like Magneto have fueled this matter instead of accepting humans’ friendship as they believe mutants are superior to humans in every possible way.
Earlier today, Marvel Studios revealed that X-Men ‘97 would arrive on the Disney+ streaming platform on March 20. The latest trailer confirms the news. Check out the trailer below!
