After six months since its theatrical debut, ‘Yaariyan 2’ has finally arrived on OTT platforms, now available for streaming on JioCinema. Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, the film serves as a standalone sequel to Divya Khosla Kumar’s 2014 directorial debut, ‘Yaariyan’, while also paying homage to Anjali Menon’s 2014 Malayalam hit, ‘Bangalore Days’.
The narrative of ‘Yaariyan 2’ intricately weaves the tales of three cousins – Shikhar, Ladli, and Bajrang – as they navigate through Mumbai, embarking on journeys of self-discovery and love. Ladli’s tumultuous marriage to Abhay unveils layers of past romance, leading to their eventual separation. Meanwhile, Bajju grapples with the pains of heartbreak, while Shikhar finds solace and unexpected love in his bond with Ikroor, a spirited paraplegic girl. Against the backdrop of a Dirt Bike Championship, Shikhar’s feelings for Ikroor deepen, culminating in a heartwarming resolution where she chooses to stand by his side.
Despite the film’s promising premise and stellar ensemble cast, including Meezaan Jafri, Pearl V Puri, and Yash Dasgupta, ‘Yaariyan 2’ failed to resonate with audiences at the box office, unable to turn a profit. Nevertheless, the film’s journey to the digital platform opens new avenues for viewers to experience its poignant narrative and captivating performances, promising an engaging cinematic experience for audiences on JioCinema.
