Yami Gautam has never been a surprising magnet in the theatres. Yes, she has acted in some important films but she could never become the factor for whom people would go to the big screens and watch a movie.
It looks like she was made for OTT. In 2023, her movie Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga came on Netflix. Despite films like Jawan and Animal, it was the most watched film on Netflix in 2023. It became an insane hit and perhaps Netflix wanted to replicate that.
So Yami Gautam again led this romantic comedy called Dhoom Dhaam. The movie is downright boring but somehow resonated well with the audience.
So much so that it will be the most-watched film on Netflix India in 2025; it has even surpassed Pushpa 2: The Reloaded which is nothing less than crazy.
It is difficult to imagine such a feat but it is actually achievable. A lot of people had already watched Pushpa 2 on the big screens and thus they never really bothered to watch it on OTT. That is the reason films like Dhoom Dhaam get so much success.
Anyway, we have not even passed one quarter of the year and there are many more months to go. Let’s see if the record of Dhoom Dhaam is broken.
