It’s been over a year now that Yashraj Films’ Aditya Chopra announced his intention to venture into the production of digital content. The distinguished production house even set up a dedicated digital content arm the purpose. Yashraj Films (YRF) is also on the way to launching its own OTT platform. Now, reports in the media suggest that YRF has already begun production on its first ever web series, titled ‘The Railway Men’.
YRF already has a stellar cast in place for the upcoming web series. R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyendu and Babil Khan are the names on board the series. For those who don’t know, Babil Khan is the son of the late Irrfan Khan. Debutant director Shiv Rawail is directing the series.
As reported in Peepingmoon, ‘The Railway Men’ is set in the backdrop of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984. It will recount the story of the brave stationmaster of the Bhopal Railway Terminus, and his colleagues, who saved the lives of thousands of people on that fateful day. The heroic deeds of the stationmaster Ghulam Dastagir and his colleagues remain unsung and unheard of to this day. ‘The Railway Men’ will bring these forgotten acts of bravery into the limelight through the medium of storytelling. What better way to do it than to make a web series on the incidents.
YRF has a release date in place for ‘The Railway Men’.The show will tentatively release on December 2, 2022. December 2, 1984 was the day that tragedy struck in Bhopal in the form of the poisonous gas leak that killed hundreds of people in the Madhya Pradesh capital city.
