Stream These Underrated Mystery Thrillers This Weekend

Everyone loves a thrilling and bone-chilling suspenseful story that opens up every nerve of your brain till the end. Indian cinema has revolutionized when it comes to bringing suspenseful plots in front of the audience.

We have seen some amazing films since OTT platforms have taken over as our primary way to watch movies. With a lot of content around different platforms, we have a solid list of recommendations for you to binge-watch bringing your inner mind to work upon.

Talvar (Disney+ Hotstar)
In her bedroom, 14-year-old Shruti Tandon is brutally murdered. The next day, Khempal, the family’s domestic assistant, is found dead on the terrace. Neeraj Kabi and Konkona Sen Sharma as Ramesh and Nutan Tandon, respectively, are in a scenario where the father is being investigated for their daughter’s murder, therefore they don’t have time to grieve for their daughter’s death. Was she killed by her father? The story of Talvar was inspired by the dramatic 2008 double murder case in Noida involving Arushi Talwar and their domestic assistant Hemraj. Its compelling screenplay and story will keep you hooked throughout its runtime and will keep you engaged.

Ugly (Disney+ Hotstar)
This film isn’t for kind-hearted or sensitive audiences as it tests how much a person can endure while watching some of the scenes from the film and thinking about what can be the end and who might be the culprit simultaneously. Strong emotions abound in Anurag Kashyap’s brutal thriller Ugly. In the film Ugly, terrible things happen (a child is abducted), terrible individuals turn out to be even worse than they were, and the end is even worse than the beginning.

Dobaaraa (Netflix)
If you think Taapsee Pannu’s Game Over was mentally disturbing to witness, try watching her in Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa. Through the use of television, a woman makes a connection to the past and saves the life of a young child who saw a murder. But this sets off a chain of events that endangers her right now. The movie certainly gives your mind a hard time figuring out the truth which is revealed at the very end, quite unexpectedly.

Kahaani (Prime Video)
One of the best mystery thrillers we have ever seen is Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani. The film, which stars Vidya Balan, centers on Vidya Bagchi (Vidya Balan), a pregnant Londoner who travels to Kolkata over the holiday season in search of her husband, who has gone missing. She finds a lot of leads and people who might or might not be connected to her husband’s case as she pursues her investigation. The rest of the cast had excellent performances, which elevated the film above Vidya Balan’s outstanding performance and the clever screenplay. You’ll be speculating on every possibility till the very end.

The Fame Game (Netflix)
In addition to being Madhuri Dixit’s comeback, the OTT platform greeted her warmly with this intriguing thriller called The Fame Game. Madhuri played the part of Anamika Khanna, who, despite her celebrity, has a life full of conflict and tribulations as she strives to maintain a happy family life. Madhuri did a fantastic job of portraying the character of a superstar. Though life has different plans for her, she makes every effort to be the best wife and mother possible. The intriguing portion of the narrative starts when she vanishes inexplicably and her family is compelled to enlist the assistance of the police to locate her. This suspense thriller will keep you at the edge of your seats throughout its runtime giving a proper mystical experience like no other in recent memory.
