Describing Sheldon Cooper as one of the most loved characters of all time would be an understatement. The character was so popular that he got his own spin-off series titled ‘Young Sheldon’. Now, as a piece of great news for Indian fans, the sixth season of the series has started streaming on Prime Video, with the first episode now available and upcoming episodes releasing every week.
‘Young Sheldon‘ as the title states follows Sheldon’s exploits at a young age. Sheldon has some of the most memorable moments in ‘The Big Bang Theory’. He lacks humility and empathy and needs his friends to reign him down whenever they can before he makes the situation worse for him and others in general. Hence we can just imagine how hilarious Sheldon would have been as a child. A huge success, the hit series has already been renewed for a 7th season!
‘Young Sheldon’ takes place in the late 1980s and early 1990s and follows Sheldon Cooper attending high school in the fictional town of Medford, Texas. The series starts with Sheldon being 9 years old and studying in high school. Being a genius with an IQ of 187, he finds it difficult to interact socially with his family and friends and ends up usually making things awkward. His social ineptitude and how things play out for him at such a young age forms the basic premise of the series.
Interestingly, Jim Parsons, who portrays the adult Sheldon Cooper on ‘The Big Bang Theory’, narrates the series and is also one of the executive producers. The series has drawn praise from critics, especially for the impressive portrayal of the title character by Iain Armitage.
Prime Video India also houses all 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory and the 5 previous seasons of Young Sheldon. The first episode of the 6th season has been titled ‘Four Hundred Cartons of Undeclared Cigarettes and a Niblingo’, and if the teasers are any indication, we are in for another fun-filled ride.
