The official trailer for ‘Young Woman And The Sea’ is out now. The title is an allusion to Ermest Hemingway’s masterpiece ‘Old Man And The Sea’ but the story is nowhere similar. Indeed it tells the story of a woman whose drive is to win the powerful waves.
The movie is written by Jeff Nathanson and directed by Joachim Rønning and it is based on the novel of the same name by Glenn Stout. It is produced under the banner of Disney. Young Woman And The Sea is the moving story of Gertrude Ederle, the swimming champion of America who won the Gold Medal in 1924 Olympics. Gertrude decides to swim through the English Channel and she faces a lot of opposition. In a male dominated world she feels that women are not allowed to be heroes and she develops a strong desire to break this through. She goes on an epic adventure in 1926 with the mission to be the first woman to swim the 21 miles of English Channel.
The lead role is played by Daisy Ridley. Other important roles are played by Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, Christopher Eccleston and Jeanette Hain. Sian Clifford from the popular series ‘Fleabag’ will also be there.
If you like sports dramas, movies that have a strong feminist message, or simply any movie where someone has a seemingly impossible dream and wants to achieve it by any chance, you will like the movie. The movie will be available to watch at theaters from the 31st of May this year.
