Zach Snyder’s Zombie Universe Gets Bigger And Bolder At Netflix!

While we still wait for the release date of Zach Snyder’s zombie hiest film ‘Army Of The Dead’, Netflix has already expanded the film’s universe with the announcement of an international prequel and an anime series. Shay Hatten, one of the writers for ‘Army Of The Dead’, will also serve as the writer for both the prequel and the anime series.

Grimme Award winner Matthias Schweighöfer will be the director of the multi-language untitled prequel along with starring in it and will reprise his ‘Army Of The Dead’ character ‘Ludwig Dieter’. The film’s production will be set in Germany and will be co-produced by The Stone Quarry’s Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Wesley Coller and Dan Maag of Pantaleon Films.

As per Netflix, “The anime series ‘Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas’ chronicles the origin story of Scott (Dave Bautista) and his rescue crew during the initial fall of Vegas as they confront the mysterious source of the zombie outbreak.” Zach Snyder and Jay Oliva will both direct two episodes each of the anime series. Oliva will also act as the showrunner for the two episodes that he will direct.

Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Wesley Coller from The Stone Quarry will act as the executive producer of the anime series along with Jay Olivia and Shay Hatten. Bautista, Ana de la Reguera, Tig Notaro, Omari Hardwick and Ella Purnell will reprise their roles in the anime series.

‘Army Of The Dead’ is itself a sequel to Snyder’s 2004 film ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ and “follows a group of mercenaries into a zombie infested Las Vegas, Nevada who try to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted”. ‘Army Of The Dead’ is set to premiere on Netflix in 2021 which among other international stars features our very own Huma Qureshi.
