Zack Snyder’s version of Star Wars, Rebel Moon, will arrive on Netflix on December 22. It will revolve around a young woman with a mysterious past, Kora, who finds out highly skilled warriors from nearby planets to protect her peaceful colony from the wrath of Balisarius, a tyrannical regent with a deadly army. The film is one of the most expensive projects to come out of Netflix’s arsenal, with a budget of nearly $166 million. To spice things up, Vanity Fair has released the first look images of the upcoming Snyder project. Have a look at them!

Rebel Moon is a two-part story. Netflix is yet to reveal the release date of the second part. Both parts were shot back-to-back. The Rated-R cuts of both of these instalments will arrive as well.
Snyder decided to split Rebel Moon into two parts after Netflix film chairman, Scott Stuber, showed his concern about the filmmaker’s 172-page-long script. Usually, a page becomes equal to a minute onscreen. In this sense, the original project would have had a runtime of nearly 3 hours, which was unacceptable to Stuber. As a result, Snyder decided to divide the project into two parts, gaining more screen time for character development. If this gamble pays off, we may get more Rebel Moon movies in future.

Apart from his directing duties, Zack Snyder has also written the film’s screenplay and handled the cinematography department. Tom Holkenborg composed the score for the film. He is well-known for his work in flicks like Mad Max: Fury Road, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (with Hans Zimmer), Terminator: Dark Fate, both Sonic movies and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
