The global wing of our very own Zee5 is doing really well in the USA.
ZEE5 Global, which focuses on South Asian content, experienced a 35% increase in viewership among its target audience in the U.S. during the first half of 2023.
Among the genres, drama was the most popular, making up 60% of the viewership. The platform saw significant success with theatrically released films like “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan,” “Uunchai,” and “Salaam Venky,” as well as original series like “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai” and “Tarla.”
Comedy also saw substantial growth, with a 92% increase in viewership, accounting for 22% of total viewership.
Thrillers witnessed a 58% increase in viewership, with ZEE5 Global originals like “Lost,” “Blurr,” “Oru Kodai Murder Mystery,” and “Shabash Feluda” performing well.
Following drama, comedy, and thrillers, the genres of romance and reality shows also had a notable viewership.
ZEE5 Global has an impressive content library of 200,000 hours which includes originals and licensed content. The platform has a lot more to offer as they announced a slate of whopping 111 titles a few months ago.
Archana Anand, chief business officer of ZEE5 Global, said: “At ZEE5 Global, we take great pride in providing our South Asian audiences with diverse genres to choose from in every language. I’m glad to see how our titles in the drama, comedy, and romance genres across languages have resonated deeply with viewers across countries. Our viewership is growing at a rapid pace, and we will continue to provide our diaspora audiences with the content they crave.”
