Zee5 is playing aggressively these days. They got hold of mega-blockbusters like RRR, The Kashmir Files and more. Even their recently released The Broken News established new benchmarks of success by reaping unprecedented views.
Now, on the occasion of World Music Day, Zee5 has finally stepped into making documentaries. As you may already know, documentaries are getting more and more popular in the Indian OTT space.
Gone are the days when only Netflix and that too foreign documentaries were the only options Indians had. With this new step, Zee5 has established the fact that they are open to new experiments.
Regardless, the new documentary is Shut Up Sona. It revolves around Sona Mohapatra. Although she doesn’t need any introduction, she is a singer and performer known for her extremely soul-touching voice with blatant opinions.
She is a classical-based singer famous for songs like Ambarsariya, Bahara, Piya Se Naina and many more.
She mixes ragas which are not supposed to mix and performs innovative experiments. Due to that, she often finds herself trapped in controversies. This documentary will explore exactly that.
Regardless, the documentary will premiere on 1st July.
