ZEE5, the OTT platform which released ‘Oru Pakka Kathai’ and ‘Mathil’ directly for streaming has managed to nab the streaming rights for yet another Tamil film, ‘Dikkiloona’. This Santhanam starring, sci-fi comedy is expected premiere on the aforementioned streaming platform, next month, during Ganesh Chathurthi, after more than a year delay. ‘Dikkiloona‘ has undergone multiple delays thanks to the coronavirus pandemic of 2020. After the initial April 2020 release date had to be postponed, the production company, KJR Studios, held onto the hope for a theatrical release, later down the line – which did not materialize. Eventually they decided to release the film via OTT, in the second week of September, after waiting for a year. The plans for theatrical release for ‘Dikkiloona’, has been scrapped and there will only be the direct-to-OTT release.
The film, however, managed to drop an interesting trailer, a long time back. According to the trailer, ‘Dikkiloona’ is a time travelling, comedy film that is set in the year 2027. Santhanam’s character discovers a group of scientists working on a time machine. Initially sceptical, he eventually accepts what they have built and agrees to be their test subject. He decides to travel in time to the year 2020 to stop his younger self from making the biggest mistake of his life – getting married.
The highly anticipated Tamil Sci-fi comedy, ‘Dikkiloona‘ will premiere on ZEE5 during the festival of Ganesh Chathurthi, on September 10th.
