ZEE5 To Premiere Three Intriguing Tele-Plays On This Date!

ZEE5 is on a content overdrive in recent times. Ever since the homegrown streaming giant was absolved of its financial issues in court, ZEE5 has fast-tracked its content release strategy to release intriguing content one after the other in quick succession. The latest content revealed to release on ZEE5 is a set of three exciting plays that ZEE5 will premiere soon. The plays will premiere on ZEE5 under its ‘ZEE Theatre’ category.

All three new titles to premiere soon on ZEE5 India began life as theatre plays. Courtesy ZEE5, now viewers don’t need to trudge down to the theatres to enjoy these plays on stage. They can watch them on their screens, from the comfort of their homes.

The three plays are titled ‘Kusum Manohar Lele’, ‘Gunehgaar’ and ‘Koi Baat Chale’. All three will premiere on ZEE5 on 9th June, 2023, which is this Friday.

Here’s more about the three plays, including cast, crew and plot –

Kusum Manohar Lele – Adapted from a 1998 Marathi play, ‘Kusum Manohar Lele’ is a suspenseful, dark take on living together, marriage and surrogacy. The play is written by Ashok Samel, and stars Shweta Basu Prasad, Gagan Riar, Anangsha Biswas, Vineet Kumar Singh, in pivotal roles.

The official plot of ‘Kusum Manohar Lele’ reads –
“A hair-raising tale of lies and deceit in which two divorcees, Sujata and Manohar meet at a marriage bureau in hope of a new life. Together they agree to take time to get to know each other while waiting for Manohar’s divorce. However, things escalate quickly and the two begin to live together with a baby on the way but no sign of marriage on the cards and a series of lies and deceit to follow.”

Gunehgaar –
Written and directed by well-known theatre director and actor, Akarsh Khurana, Gunehgaar is a gripping story of suspense and twisty suspense. The teleplay boasts a stellar cast of Shweta Basu Prasad, Gajraj Rao, Sumeet Vyas, John Kashyap and Priyansh Lamba.

The official plot of ‘Gunehgaar’ reads,
“Mr. Bansal, a very dubious man, invites Mrinalini, a famous journalist, over to his flat on the premise of discussing top secret news. Once there, she is surprised when Om, the man with whom she is having an affair, also arrives for an entirely different reason. But nothing is as it seems and as the plot twists and turns, the motive of their host Mr. Bansal is revealed”.

Koi Baat Chale – Directed by Mayank Pahwa and Seema Pahwa, ‘Koi Baat Chale’ consists of six celebrated stories from venerated Indian writers such as Saadat Hasan Manto, Munshi Premchand and Harishankar Parsai, among others. The stories are read by veteran actors, Gopal Datt, Manoj Pahwa, Saadiya Siddiqui, Vinay Pathak, Vineet Kumar, and Manoj Pahwa, who use their vocal skills and performing arts to translate words into emotions, juxtaposed with a quirky, otherworldly set that creates a nostalgic and fantastical experience for the viewers.
