Homegrown streaming giant ZEE5 has been betting big on Bengali content in recent times. After the well-received ‘Abor Proloy’, ZEE5 is all set to premiere its next Bengali web series this week. Titled ‘Chhotolok’, the series is a murder mystery, set in the backdrop of politics, greed, lust and emotion. Bengali series ‘Chhotolok’ will premiere on ZEE5 on 3rd November, 2023, which is this Friday.
Murder mystery series ‘Chhotolok’ centres on a woman Rupsha Ghosh (Ushasi Ray), who’s found murdered in cold blood. The needle of suspicion points towards Raja Bhattacharya (Gourav Chakraborty), who had been involved in an affair with the woman. Sordid secrets come to the fore when SI Sabitri Mondol (Daminee Basu) starts digging into the murder. Raja’s wife Mallika (Priyanka Sarkar), and his politician mother Mohor Bhattacharya (Indrani Halder) also come under Sabitri’s radar.
Chhotolok comes from talented filmmaker Indranil Roy Chowdhury. The series will be his first foray into making a show for streaming. The series will also mark the OTT debut of prolific Bengali actress Indrani Halder. Chhotolok features Daminee Basu, Priyanka Sarkar, Ushasi Ray, Gaurav Chakraborty, Indrani Halder, Loknath Dey, Ushashie Chakraborty, among others, in pivotal roles.
