We at Binged had earlier informed our readers that ZEE5’s breakout hit ‘The Broken News’ has been renewed for Season 2 at the platform. Now we have another exciting update on the series, for fans of the newsroom and political drama. And the update comes from none other than BBC Studios India, one of the producers of the Indian show.
For those who don’t know, ‘The Broken News‘ has been created by ZEE5 in collaboration with BBC Studios India. The series is the official Indian adaptation of acclaimed BBC show, ‘Press’. The only difference is that ‘Press’ is set in the backdrop of the print media, while ‘The Broken News’ centres on a TV newsroom. BBC Studios had announced the Season 2 renewal of ‘The Broken News’ in its ‘BBC Studios Showcase’ event that took place in London on 27-28 February, 2023.
In a post shared by BBC Studios India on their official social media handles, the content behemoth has shared another exciting update on ‘The Broken News’ Season 2, which is sure to gladden the hearts of fans of the show. The new season of The Broken News has officially kicked off production today, with lead protagonist Sonali Bendre in attendance.

The new season of ‘The Broken News’ will see the return of award-winning director Vinay Waikul, who will once again helm ‘The Broken News’ Season 2. Like the first season, Season 2 will also be written by Sambit Mishra. Writer Mike Bartlett, who’s written the original series ‘Press’, is credited as co-writer and creator of ‘The Broken News’.
The primary cast of ‘The Broken News’ Season 1 returns to reprise their roles in the second season, including Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shriya Pilgaonkar, along with Indraneil Sengupta, Taaruk Raina, among others.
‘The Broken News’ Season 2 promises to be even more explosive and gripping than the first season, with secrets spilling, political heavyweights pulling their weight, and the continuing battle between truth and sensationalism.
