ZEE5 is all set to release a documentary series ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ on its platform. Like the 2022 hit film ‘The Kashmir Files’, this documentary series is also produced and directed by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri. ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ premieres on ZEE5 on 11th August, 2023.
It’s common knowledge that Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid had criticised and called out Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files as an agenda-driven propaganda film. Vivek Agnihotri announced ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ in response to Nadav Lapid’s harsh comments on The Kashmir Files at the IFFI 2023.
As per the makers, ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ will uncover hitherto unknown facts about the Kashmir issue, and the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir. It will offer an understanding of social complexities of the region, as well as examine the impact of the conflict on the lives of ordinary people living in Kashmir. The documentary series will explain the troubled past of the Kashmir Valley, exploring the events that led to the dispute between India and Pakistan over the region.
Going by the above description of the content of ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’, the seven part series should be quite eye-opening and enlightening for the general viewer. Most people even in India, let alone the world, don’t know much about the conflict in Kashmir. The documentary series ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ should give them some understanding of the Kashmir problem, and why it’s such a burning issue in India.
