Netflix has just revealed the first images from its new zombie flick, ‘Zom 100: Bucket List Of The Dead’. The film is a live-action adaptation of the popular manga ‘ZOM100 -Zombi ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto’. The manga is the creation of Haro Aso & Kotaro Takata, and published by Shogakukan Incand. Haro Aso is the creator of ‘Alice In Borderland’, another popular manga turned into a series at Netflix.
For those who don’t know, manga is the term given to Japanese graphic novels. ZOM100 is a popular manga among far-eastern youngsters, and its live-action adaptation will be a fun film to watch. ‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ will premiere globally on Netflix on Aug 3, 2023.
The premise of ‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ is a novel one. It is a zombie flick, but unlike most films in the genre that resort to blood, gore and horror to tell their stories, ‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ is a comedy. The film is described as a positive and fresh zombie comedy, with a reversal of the hopeless situation of the city being overrun by zombies!
The plot of ‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ centers on Akira Tendo (Eiji Akaso), who works at an exploitative company where he suffers endless hours and harassment from his boss. He spends his days feeling more dead than alive. One day, the town is overtaken by zombies and Akira gets excited for he doesn’t need to go to the office anymore rather than facing the fact that he has to survive the zombie apocalypse. Akira comes up with a bucket list of 100 things to accomplish before he becomes a zombie. He sets about fulfilling his bucket list in the company of Shizuka (Mai Shiraishi) and Kencho (Shuntaro Yanagi).
‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ stars Eiji Akaso, Mai Shiraishi, Shuntaro Yanagi, Yui Ichikawa, Mayo Kawasaki, Akari Hayami, Miwako Kakei, Kurumi Nakata, Doronz Ishimoto, Mukau Nakamura, Shota Taniguchi, Kenta Satoi, and Kazuki Kitamura in pivotal roles. It is directed by Yusuke Ishida, from a screenplay written by Tatsuro Mishima.
