The post-pandemic era has been fruitful for the Indian OTT industry so far. It has definitely allowed more Indian viewers (especially from small cities and villages) to connect with a variety of OTT platforms, including JioHotstar. JioHotstar, with its affordable subscription plans, has managed to attract a large number of new subscribers in recent months. However, complaints regarding the platform’s technical issues and glitches are not decreasing. Now, users are demanding something else.
There is a growing section of JioHotstar users who want to watch their favourite foreign shows (such as The Bear Season 4) or K-dramas in Hindi dub. The platform does offer plenty of Hindi-dubbed versions of popular titles from Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and other big production houses. But many prominent titles—especially from Hollywood and South Korea—are still not available in Hindi.
Dear @JioHotstar, The Bear has stolen our hearts! Please consider adding a Hindi dub for all seasons so more of us can enjoy this masterpiece. #TheBear #HindiDubNeeded

A humongous portion of Indian OTT viewers resides in small cities and villages. These audiences often prefer content in their native language for better comprehension and cultural resonance.
Expanding Hindi-dubbed content can give JioHotstar a significant edge over its current competitors.
In recent months, MX Player has quietly increased its library of Hindi-dubbed K-drama shows after recognising the rising number of K-drama lovers in India. Why should JioHotstar stay behind?
JioHotstar’s rapid subscriber growth—from 50 million to 300 million in recent months—was partly driven by the IPL and the platform’s availability across various devices, including connected TVs. This widespread accessibility also extends to rural areas, where television and internet access are steadily increasing.
Which is why JioHotstar shouldn’t ignore this situation. Offering content to the growing Indian OTT audience in Hindi dub would strengthen the platform’s position in the country’s booming OTT market. Stay tuned for more updates.
