Bigg Boss OTT served as the perfect bridge for reality TV addicts. However, according to recent reports, the Hindi version of the digital-only spin-off has been scrapped. While fans were gearing up for Bigg Boss OTT 4, the makers are reportedly planning to dissolve the platform divide once and for all.
In recent years, the franchise maintained a strict wall between the TV version (Colors TV) and the OTT version (JioHotstar). Now, the makers reportedly want to consolidate the brand. With the primary Bigg Boss show already streaming simultaneously on OTT alongside its television broadcast, the producers feel that a separate OTT-only season creates unnecessary fragmentation.
By ending the split, the makers aim to unify the audience under one flagship banner, rather than exhausting the format with back-to-back seasons that risk viewer burnout.
If these reports hold true, Bigg Boss OTT will leave behind a short but explosive legacy that changed the trajectory of several creators’ careers. Karan Johar hosted Season 1, which saw Divya Agarwal take the trophy, proving that digital audiences had a massive appetite for 24/7 unfiltered drama.
Season 2 saw Elvish Yadav emerge victorious, marking the first time a wild-card contestant won the show.
Under the “Jhakaas” hosting of Anil Kapoor, Sana Makbul emerged victorious in Season 3.
Despite the mounting rumours, there has been no official confirmation from Endemol Shine India. Former winners and fan-favourite contestants have yet to comment on the potential cancellation, leaving the BB Army in a state of limbo.
For now, it seems the makers are betting on the “main show” to carry the weight of the entire fandom. Stay tuned for more updates.
