If you are a regular reader at Binged then you would know a few things about AppleTV. A few months back we reported how one month at AppleTV is less than a day at Netflix in terms of watch hours. Despite being one of the top streaming services and producing one of the best content, AppleTV is an utter failure in terms of luring the audiences to purchase subscription and enjoy the content.
So, it was also pretty obvious that AppleTV needs a revival. Also, a few days back we reported how Amazon Prime Video has managed to strike a deal with AppleTV and how the latter would be available as an “add-on subscription” on Amazon Prime Video.
But the question arises, will this help?
See, it is not like Prime Video has bought AppleTV. To stream the content, anyways people will have to buy a subscription to AppleTV. Thus, it sounds very strange how becoming an add-on channel increases the chances of AppleTV’s good health. Yes, it will increase AppleTV’s visibility as Prime Video has a massive subscriber base. But, more or less the situation remains the same.
We are not very hopeful about AppleTV as they need to create originals that attract a mass audience. More importantly, the USA-centric approach does not help them in any manner. It is high time AppleTV gives away typical Apple kinda nakhra and caters to the demands of non-white people.
