Netflix India’s movie charts have seen a seismic shift in the last couple of days. The high-octane espionage thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, which had been parked comfortably at the #1 spot since its debut, has finally been dethroned.
In its place, a refreshing wave of Southern cinema has taken over, with the Telugu comedy Anaganaga Oka Raju and the Tamil satire Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil (TTT) securing the top two positions.
Stepping into the top spot is the Naveen Polishetty-starrer Anaganaga Oka Raju. Following its successful Sankranthi theatrical run, where it crossed the INR 100-crore mark, the film’s transition to OTT has been nothing short of spectacular.
Securing the #2 position is Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, affectionately known to fans as TTT. This Tamil political satire, starring Jiiva, has benefited from a multi-language release (Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi) that has allowed it to penetrate markets far beyond its home state.
The film’s quirky premise, a village panchayat member trying to manage a wedding and a funeral that happen to collide on the same day, has resonated with viewers looking for grounded, relatable, yet zany storytelling.
After a dominant reign that saw it topping charts in 22 countries, Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has finally slipped to the #3 spot in India. While it may have lost the lead in the domestic market, this Aditya Dhar movie remains a global juggernaut. It recently made headlines for hitting No. 1 on the global Non-English charts with over 15.8 million views in its first ten days. Stay tuned for more updates.
