The IPL 2026 season is now in its full-fledged mode. However, there is a noticeable section of fans that seems to be disappointed with JioHotstar’s streaming of live matches of the prominent tournament. In recent months, complaints regarding issues with the platform’s sound quality, particularly during live cricket matches, have significantly increased.
Viewers are finding that instead of being immersed in the stadium atmosphere, they are left constantly adjusting their volume levels just to hear what’s going on.
One of the most frustrating issues occurs during live IPL broadcasts, especially for those who love watching the action in English commentary.
Fans have noted that the commentary and the ambient crowd noise feel unusually muffled or low. To catch the expert analysis, viewers are forced to crank up their volume significantly.
However, the moment a wicket falls or an over ends, the advertisements kick in at a deafening, “normal” volume. This sudden jump in sound is more than just a nuisance. It’s a jarring experience that ruins the flow of the game and has many reaching for the mute button in a panic.
@JioHotstar bro.. Pls fix your app, especially in TV… During matches or while watching a movie, the sound is very low and suddenly when an advertisement pops up, the sound automatically doubles… This is really irritating and frustrating to the core.. Fix this ASAP..

The technical letdown doesn’t stop with cricket. Even with the highly anticipated arrival of the HBO Max bundle, the sound quality has left a lot to be desired. Subscribers who were excited to watch premium titles like Zack Snyder’s Justice League are reporting flat, thin audio that lacks the cinematic punch one would expect from a paid service.
Despite the platform’s claims of supporting high-end formats, the actual output often feels compressed, leaving those with expensive soundbars or home theatre systems feeling like their hardware is being wasted.
Ultimately, while JioHotstar has successfully consolidated a massive library of content, from live sports to international blockbusters, it seems to be struggling with the basics of delivery.
For a premium service, fans expect a balanced, high-quality audio experience that doesn’t require a finger constantly hovering over the volume button. Until these mixing issues and bitrate constraints are addressed, the “all-in-one” streaming dream promised by JioHotstar remains a bit of a headache for the average viewer. Stay tuned for more updates.
