ZEE5 dropped five originals last month. Abar Proloy Season 2 was among the highly anticipated titles in Feb 2026. After the first season was a hit, fans were waiting for special officer Animesh Dutta to return. This time, the action moved to Kolkata, making the crime thriller feel even more intense.
Shabad: Reet aur Riwaaz turned out to be a touching Hindi-Punjabi story about a boy who wants to play football while his father wants him to follow family traditions. It’s the kind of emotional drama that families love.
Thadayam received high praise for its performances, but received criticism for its story and pacing.
Raakshasa was praised for its dark, gritty atmosphere and solid jumpscares. Meanwhile, D/o Prasad Rao won points for its unique missing person plot and relatable middle-class setting, making the suspense feel very real. But some viewers felt the pacing was off. A few reviews mentioned that both titles started strong but dragged in the middle. Others wished for bigger star power to match the high-stakes writing.
Apart from these originals, ZEE5 also brought in several films that already had people talking in February. The biggest name here was Kennedy, directed by Anurag Kashyap. After travelling to film festivals around the world, it finally landed on the app for everyone to see.
Additionally, Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam was a major hit for its realistic portrayal of school life and language pride, while Parasakthi earned praise for its intense look at historical activism. Viewers also appreciated Uttar for its modern, touching take on how technology affects the bond between a mother and son.
However, many users complained that the platform didn’t promote these regional gems enough, making them difficult to discover without searching.
ZEE5’s February 2026 performance shows a platform that is successfully playing the volume game by catering to diverse linguistic tastes. While the lack of aggressive marketing for its regional gems remains a pain point for users, the sheer variety of content, from gritty crime sequels like Abar Proloy to international festival favourites like Kennedy, has kept the platform buzzing.
