OTT platforms are a place where you can surely say that there is more freedom than theatrical movies to show your creation, with less censorship.
But, with the new guidelines being made, will there be enough space for freedom in the OTT platforms like before?
When the question was asked to Vikrant Massey, he said there are certain guidelines you have to abide by.
But one point is, major films by Massey were released in the OTT, where he portrayed dark characters, because OTT movies like “Sector 36” can be shown in the public frontline.
Vikrant Massey got the golden opportunity to release all his films before the release of the censorship guidelines which are being made right now.
According to Massey, “A lot of things that we showed in Sector 36, we might not have been able to portray on the big screen. Having a film on OTT also gives a private and personalised experience.”
Well with all fairness that is the ultimate goal of being an OTT platform where you can have a personalised experience, and because the censorship was less people could see the necessary parts.
Now, when “The Kashmir Files” was released in theatres it went through a hard censorship, but if it was directly released on the OTT platforms than probably censoring chances would have been less.
So, the rules and regulations Vikrant Massey abided by while his films were being released, that was before the hard guidelines which are now being made for ott platforms.
Now, the question arises that if the same kind of censorship is applied in the OTT platforms then, will we be able to see a story with its full extent?
