One platform which is doing its part in promoting Telugu-language cinema, especially to a relatively pan-Indian audience, is Zee5. Not only has the OTT provider been regularly adding Telugu titles to its viewing library, but it has, in fact, seen a surge in viewership statistics because of these titles.
Following the release of titles like ‘Bahishkarana’, ‘Paruvu’, ‘Aha Naa Pellanta’, and more, yet another Telugu thriller is en route to dropping on the platform. Slated for a November 28 release, ‘Vikkatakavi’, a seemingly gripping mystical thriller follows the people of Amaragiri as they are devastated by a plague that causes severe memory loss.
To their unexpected aid comes a detective, Rama Krishna, to investigate the case. While the recently released trailer for the show debuted to a widespread positive response, it brings into context the importance of a well written script and overall storyline in getting audiences hooked to even a genre that seems to be overdone lately.
With the lukewarm response garnered by a number of mystical / mythical films and shows recently standing in stark response to the appreciation the ‘Vikkatakavi’ trailer has debuted to, it has become quite clear that the audience want one thing and one thing only: a script that stands apart!
