The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has brought high-octane cricket to our screens, but for many fans, the overall watching experience hasn’t been up to the mark. During the high-stakes Super 8 clash between West Indies and South Africa on February 26, 2026 (today), the streaming giant JioHotstar faced a wave of criticism as technical glitches marred the viewing experience.
The most bizarre issue reported during the WI vs SA match was a persistent audio overlap. Viewers tuning into the English commentary feed were distracted by what sounded like behind-the-scenes production chatter.
Social media was flooded with complaints about hearing oratory instructions from a broadcast director. Fans noted that they could hear the director giving cues for camera switches and feed adjustments directly over the live commentary of Ian Bishop and Pommie Mbangwa.
The glitch wasn’t just limited to production cues. Some users also reported a “double commentary” effect, where a secondary audio track, possibly from a different language feed or a mobile device in the studio, bled into the main broadcast.

Perhaps even more frustrating than the audio issues was a widespread authentication bug. Numerous subscribers reported being automatically logged out of their accounts in the middle of the match.
Despite logging back in multiple times, the app continued to boot users to the sign-in screen. This “logout loop” particularly affected users on Smart TVs and Connected TV devices.

While JioHotstar recently integrated OpenAI’s ChatGPT-powered voice discovery to help fans find content, the core streaming infrastructure seemed to buckle under the pressure of the World Cup. Reports of lagging, low-resolution streams (even on high-speed 5G connections), and a stuck UI were common throughout the afternoon.
With the tournament heading toward the semi-finals and high-voltage matches like India vs West Indies on the horizon, the pressure is on JioHotstar to stabilise its platform. Fans are calling for immediate patches to the session management system and a cleaner audio feed that keeps the production talk behind the curtain. Stay tuned for more updates.
