It’s another day, another frustration for JioHotstar subscribers. Despite being India’s largest streaming service, the platform is under fire again—this time for its unreliable offline download feature.
Downloads That Don’t Play
Several users have complained that downloaded movies and shows either stop working after a couple of days or disappear entirely. One user raged on X (Twitter) that a film he had downloaded two days earlier refused to play.
Another said his entire season of a series vanished after the app crashed, leaving only seven episodes in his library. Such incidents have left fans questioning whether JioHotstar’s much-promoted offline feature is anything more than a gimmick.

Core Feature, Broken Trust
Offline downloads are a big reason users stick with streaming platforms. They’re crucial for travel, poor network zones, or simply saving mobile data. But for JioHotstar customers, what should be a convenience has become a source of repeated anger.
This isn’t new. Complaints about downloads failing, consuming data while offline, or expiring too quickly have been piling up for months. The silence from JioHotstar has only deepened customer frustration.
@JioHotstar hey jio hotstar i was watching my television series after downloading the complete season and then your application crashed and after the app crashed there were only 7 episodes left in the download. Why did this happen? fix it immediately. I'm really pissed off. pic.twitter.com/0E65qbp8pU

Bigger Problem Than Bugs
While glitches happen on any app, the scale and persistence of these failures hint at deeper operational flaws. When a core feature consistently fails, it questions the platform’s seriousness about user experience.
Unless JioHotstar fixes its offline viewing problems quickly, its reputation among loyal subscribers could take a serious hit.
