At this point, it’s safe to say that JioHotstar loves being in the limelight, though mostly for the wrong reasons. We’re well into August this year, which means nearly six months have passed since the grand merger between JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. Can you believe that? Time really flies. In that time, not only has JioHotstar miserably failed to deliver on its promise of seamless, high-quality content, but it has also consistently added more woes to its consumers’ already growing list of pain points. This time, the focus is on the platform’s downloaded content.
A noticeable number of viewers have raised concerns about being unable to play downloaded content offline, even after downloading it. Others have complained about being forced to watch unskippable ads while viewing downloaded content. What’s the point of offering a download option if viewers can’t enjoy it offline?
Earlier in July, the same issue cropped up, and JioHotstar did nothing. There were also complaints about the platform consuming viewers’ data packs when they tried to watch downloaded content.
This latest series of blunders highlights a deeply troubling pattern. JioHotstar is not just failing to meet basic service expectations; it’s actively undermining the very features it promotes to attract and retain customers. The download function, a critical convenience for users who travel or have unstable internet, is only fueling further frustration among its consumer base.
The company’s repeated silence on these issues only adds insult to injury. The lack of a swift and transparent response, especially after complaints first surfaced in July, suggests that the platform is either unable or unwilling to fix the problems. This isn’t just a technical glitch; it’s a symptom of a larger operational failure.

what a glitchy platform this is? I've downloaded this movie and still it consumed my 4g limited data
