After a wait of five years, Netflix has finally completed and released the Satyam Computers episode of its investigative documentary series Bad Boy Billionaires: India. The episode is now streaming on Netflix India, bringing the first season of the series to a close.
The episode focuses on the Satyam Computer Services scandal and its founder B Ramalinga Raju. It was originally scheduled for release in 2020 along with the rest of the series. However, just days before its premiere, a civil court in Hyderabad passed an interim order stopping Netflix from airing the episode after Raju challenged it in court.
While the other three episodes of the series were released in 2020, the Satyam episode remained blocked for years as the legal case continued. The dispute centred on claims that the documentary could harm Raju’s reputation and affect ongoing legal proceedings related to the case.
This week, the Hyderabad City Civil Court set aside the interim injunction that had prevented the episode’s release. The court held that it could not restrain the streaming of the documentary. Following the order, Netflix released the episode globally on December 31, 2025.
But you see, such kind of daring shows were being made 5 years ago. Now, Netflix India or any other OTT platform won’t dare to make such a documentary out of fear of controversy. Playing too safe has become the norm.
Titled Riding the Tiger, the episode traces the rise of Satyam as a major Indian IT company and the accounting fraud that came to light in 2009. The scandal is considered one of the biggest corporate frauds in India and led to criminal investigations by multiple agencies.
With the release of this episode, Netflix has finally completed Bad Boy Billionaires: India, ending a chapter that remained unfinished for half a decade.
