Netflix India has seen a lot of buzz these days. Can’t say that this buzz was for all the good reasons but they certainly helped in the growth of the platform. Also, Netflix India was not in the best preference of the government so much so that the release of IC-814 caused a lot of controversy.
But, IFFI brought the government and Netflix India together and they will be working together too.
Netflix has taken a bold step to go beyond just entertainment. It’s nurturing the talent behind the screens. At the 55th International Film Festival of India, Netflix, in collaboration with India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting launched an exciting chapter in the Creative Minds of Tomorrow program,.
Why does this matter?
For starters, the partnership focuses on training voice-over artists, a highly important but often overlooked craft. Under the Voicebox initiative, Netflix is empowering participants to break into a rapidly growing industry. What makes it even better is the fact that half of them will be women.
More importantly, they will be narrating Azaadi Ki Amrit Kahaniyan, a Netflix project celebrating India’s independence movement. This ensures that they get work and not just training.
It is not because of the training and programme that we are talking about it. It is about the transformation Netflix India is making in establishing favourable relations with the Government. Let’s see what happens or if it benefits.
