Netflix has revealed its earnings and overall reports for Q4 of 2024. Well, congratulations to the platform, it has now more than 300 million subscribers globally.
But how did the platform welcome them?
By increasing the price.
Netflix is increasing its subscription prices in the U.S. and several other markets, including Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. The news was announced after adding 18.9 million new users in Q4 2024.
In the U.S., the Standard plan without ads will now cost $17.99 per month, up from $15.49. The ad-supported plan, which serves as the entry-level option in many markets, will rise by $1 to $7.99 per month. The Premium plan, offering four simultaneous streams, will increase to $24.99, up $2. Additionally, the cost to add an extra member to an account has gone up from $7.99 to $8.99 per month.
Netflix explained the price increases as part of its strategy to continue investing in programming and providing more value to subscribers. “We will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so we can re-invest to further improve Netflix,” said Netflix.
Yes, right now the media and people will raise this issue and it will become important temporarily. But soon people will adapt to the changes and they will keep subscribing to Netflix because the content is addictive.
As of now, there is no news of price increase in India so it is a good news.
While the increases may disappoint some users, Netflix believes its content offerings and ad-supported options remain a good value for viewers.
