Prime Video Half-Yearly Report: Platform Hits a Six With Originals

Half of 2025 is gone, and there are some important insights. We must say that the platform did a good job compared to its competitors. The year began with Paatal Lok Season 2, which can be counted among the best series in India. Later, we got Khauf, which is an absolutely fresh and fantastic horror series. Panchayat Season 4 was a bit underwhelming, but the films were also good. Let’s have a look at the titles before we analyse.

Original Series
Paatal Lok Season 2, Ziddi Girls, Suzhal: The Vortex Season 2, Dupahiya, Zakir Khan: The Delulu Express, Khauf, Gram Chikitsalaya, The Traitors, In Transit, Panchayat Season 4

Original Films
The Mehta Boys, Be Happy, Chhorii 2, Stolen

Important Licensed Films
Baby John, Game Changer, Superboys of Malegaon, Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2, Ground Zero, Bhool Chuk Maaf

Analysis
Let’s begin with the series first. Paatal Lok Season 2 needs no introduction. The series was an absolute gem where we saw the protagonist going through an incredibly transformative journey. The series is easily one of the best we have seen so far, and thankfully, it received the praise it deserved.

Ziddi Girls, Suzhal: The Vortex Season 2 and Dupahiya were disappointing. The series was rushed, and there was nothing good about it. There were too many inconsistencies which badly impacted the show.

Khauf was another gem by Prime Video. The show delved into super dark and terrifying elements that actually worked in the genre of horror. There was a genuine fear of nature as well as the supernatural in the show. We must say that the writers did an amazing job.

Gram Chikitsalaya is nothing but an overused Panchayat trope that didn’t work a big time for Prime Video.

The Traitors gained views, but it is too early to comment. The series needs to develop in a new manner in the second season, which is already in development.

Then comes Panchayat Season 4. The series was released recently, and there are severe problems. It is not a bad series, but not up to the mark with the previous seasons. There was too much focus on elections and less on the simplicity that made the first two seasons good.

The two films, The Mehta Boys and Stolen, were brilliant. They pushed the story to new limits, and the emotional, psychological elements were really well done. The writing of the two films deserves special applause for the wonderful job.

Be Happy and Chhorii 2 were not bad, but they were not good either. They are highly average films that don’t deserve much attention.

Coming to licensed films, there were many releases, but the only film that truly stood out was Superboys of Malegaon. The film is an absolute beauty. It is a must-watch for every cinema lover, and the makers have done an exceptional job in showing the story of the Malegaon film industry.

Overall, Prime Video did a good job in the first half of 2025. They deserve a 7/10.
