September 2025 is shaping up to be an important month for Prime Video, with the streamer set to release a slate of high-profile titles that will surely boost its viewership. From star-studded theatrical blockbusters making their digital debut to highly anticipated returning series, the platform is leaving no stone unturned in crafting a compelling content library for its subscribers.
Kicking things off is Vishnu Manchu’s Kanappa (September 4), which bombed at the box office, earning only INR 46 crores against its massive INR 200 crore budget. Despite featuring stars like Akshay Kumar, R. Sarathkumar, Mohan Babu, Prabhas, Madhoo, Mukesh Rishi, and many more, the film tanked hard and became a major financial disaster.
That said, box office disappointments often find new life on OTT; Kanappa may follow the same path.
Next up is Rajkummar Rao’s crime thriller Maalik (September 5), praised for its intense storyline and powerful performances. But the biggest attraction is undoubtedly Rajinikanth’s action extravaganza Coolie (September 11). A box office juggernaut, this Lokesh Kanagaraj movie will now reach a wider audience and is poised to be one of the year’s most significant digital premieres.
Beyond these big-ticket films, Prime Video is also strengthening its series lineup. The much-anticipated return of the superhero series Gen V with its second season (September 17) is a major coup for the platform. As a spin-off of the wildly popular The Boys, its comeback is expected to generate massive buzz.
The platform is also expanding its original offerings with the premiere of Do You Wanna Partner (September 12), a Hindi comedy-drama starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty, which explores the world of female entrepreneurship.
Additionally, Prime Video plans to release numerous regional and international titles throughout the month. All signs suggest September could be one of the most fruitful months of 2025 for the streaming giant. As competition in the OTT space intensifies, Prime Video’s September lineup is expected to deliver massive viewership. Stay tuned for more updates.
