Hey guys, we are back again with our monthly reports for SonyLIV, this time checking its performance in November 2025. Last month, the streamer dropped only one, but colossal, original title for its viewers, Maharani Season 4, led by the new OTT queen, Huma Qureshi.
In a competitive streaming landscape, this heavy reliance on the return of Rani Bharti was a high-stakes move that ultimately paid off, with the series delivering huge viewership numbers and boosting the platform’s performance.
November 2025 was a busy month for content consumption, marked by rival streamers dropping major hits like The Family Man Season 3 (Prime Video) and Delhi Crime Season 3 (Netflix India). Against this competitive heat, SonyLIV’s decision to dedicate all its promotional firepower to just Maharani Season 4 looked like a massive gamble.
However, the gamble paid off big time, as it benefited immensely from its loyal fanbase, who turned it into a big success for SonyLIV.
According to Ormax’s reports, Maharani Season 4 accumulated a massive viewership of over 8.4 million views in its first three weeks. This explosive start means Season 4 has already secured 82% of the entire lifetime viewership of its predecessor, Season 3 (which registered 10.2 million views), making it highly likely to surpass that record in December.
Critics and fans alike hailed the powerhouse performance of Huma Qureshi as Rani Bharti, noting that she remains the show’s emotional and political anchor. The show’s shift in location from Patna to Delhi, where national politics took centre stage against a formidable new opponent (Vipin Sharma’s Prime Minister Joshi), was praised for raising the stakes.
While Maharani 4 ended the month on a high, the lack of new original content towards the end of November means subscriber retention in early December will depend on the strength of SonyLIV’s licensed library and the upcoming original releases.
The gamble was a success, but the lesson remains: sustained growth in the streaming wars requires not just high-quality events, but a consistent flow of content to keep the audience engaged. SonyLIV’s November 2025 was a brilliant sprint, but December will test its endurance. Stay tuned for more updates.
