This week, OTT platforms are packed with shows and films built around patriotism and national pride. Salakaar already came out last week, but it faced heavy criticism for its weak story and didn’t make much impact. That leaves two big titles in the race, Saare Jahan Se Achcha on Netflix and Tehran on ZEE5, both looking promising with their spy-thriller plots and strong star casts.
But there is a surprise contender that might steal the spotlight. Sena: Guardians of the Nation comes from TVF, a studio known for telling stories people can relate to. It has two big advantages. First, it will stream free on Amazon MX Player, so anyone with internet can watch it without paying for a subscription. That gives it a much wider reach than Netflix or ZEE5.
Second, the story will feel familiar to many Indians. It is about a JEE aspirant who gives up a chance at a comfortable career to join the Indian Armed Forces. Most families understand the pressure of competitive exams, so the personal conflict at the heart of Sena feels real. On top of that, there is the backdrop of army life, survival against militants and an emotional father-son relationship which adds drama, action and heart.
With Independence Day just around the corner, Sena has the potential to connect with people on both an emotional and patriotic level. If it delivers on the story, it could easily outshine its rivals this week.
