The ongoing week is very slow. It does not have a lot of big titles and almost all the attention is grabbed by the Stranger Things grand finale only. Here is a quick look at the titles arriving at the end of December and the start of January.
Stranger Things Season 5 Finale
The final chapter of Stranger Things brings Hawkins to its breaking point. As the Upside Down begins to collapse, Eleven and her friends face one last battle against Vecna. The story closes finally. The finale streams on January 1 on Netflix. Episode 7 of Stranger Things Season 5 did not receive much positive response from the audience. It is currently the lowest rated episode of the entire series. Let’s see if the Grand Finale amends that.
Ekō
Ekō is a Malayalam mystery thriller that closes Ramesh’s Animal Trilogy. The film follows Mlaathi, the missing wife of a feared dog breeder, as strangers arrive at her hill estate searching for answers. As secrets from the past slowly surface, the story shows how control can hide behind the idea of safety. Ekō releases on December 31 on Netflix.
Ithiri Neram
Ithiri Neram is a Malayalam drama about unfinished emotions and missed choices. A brief reunion between former lovers turns into a long night of conversation and travel. Through their journey, the film reflects on acceptance and unresolved feelings. Ithiri Neram releases on December 31, 2025 on Sun NXT.
Haq
Haq is a courtroom drama inspired by real legal battles around marriage and rights. It tells the story of a woman who challenges her powerful ex-husband after he denies her support. Her fight moves through different courts and sparks a wider debate on justice and faith. Haq premieres on January 2 on Netflix. It is based on the story of Shahbano, who was denied justice in the 1980s.
Love Beyond Wicket
Love Beyond Wicket is a Tamil sports drama about second chances. It follows a former cricketer who becomes a reluctant coach to a struggling team. As he trains them, the focus shifts from winning matches to personal change. Love Beyond Wicket arrives on January 1 on JioHotstar.
