YouTube continues to dominate the streaming landscape, holding the top spot in August with 13.1 percent of total television usage. While this represents a slight dip of 0.3 points from July, the platform remains well ahead of its competitors.
Netflix came in second with an 8.7 percent share, down 0.1 points, while Disney’s suite of services, including Disney+, Hulu SVOD, and ESPN+, also declined by 0.1 to 4.6 percent.
Prime Video was the only major streaming service to see growth, inching up 0.1 points to 3.9 percent. The Roku Channel maintained a steady 2.8 percent, and Tubi stayed at 2.2 percent. Paramount’s offerings, Paramount+ and Pluto TV, held firm at 2 percent.
At the lower end, Peacock slipped 0.2 points to 1.4 percent, while Warner Bros. Discovery’s combined HBO Max and Discovery+ declined 0.1 to the same level. Other smaller platforms grouped under “Other Streaming” also fell, losing 0.2 points to finish at 6.4 percent.
Even with slight fluctuations across platforms, YouTube’s dominance highlights its continued appeal and stronghold in the OTT space. And it’ll stay like that for the time being.
