ZEE’s December 2025: Hits That Hugged, Misses That Hurt

By Binged Bureau - Jan 02, 2026 @ 07:01 pm
ZEE’s December 2025: Hits That Hugged, Misses That Hurt

In December 2025, ZEE5 solidified its position as a dominant force in India’s OTT landscape, closing the year with a high-octane and diverse content slate that balanced regional authenticity with massive star power. Here is the comprehensive performance report for ZEE5 in December 2025.

The Great Pre-Wedding Show (December 5, 2025)

After winning the audience’s hearts in theatres, this comedy-drama also entertained the OTT viewers on ZEE5, emerging as a massive viewership success on the platform. Viewers praised its clean comedy and outstanding performances from the lead performers, particularly Thiruveer. They also loved the relatable village setting, calling it a lighthearted and refreshing family entertainer despite a slightly predictable second half.

Jatadhara (December 5, 2025)

Despite a strong premise blending mythology and science, Jatadhara received a highly negative reception. While Sudheer Babu’s performance earned some praise, critics and audiences slammed the subpar CGI and a disjointed screenplay. Sonakshi Sinha’s performance was widely panned, and the abrupt, incoherent climax left viewers frustrated.

Be Dune Teen (December 5, 2025)

Be Dune Teen emerged as a decent, quirky, and relatable Marathi dramedy. The chemistry between Kshitish Date and Shivani Rangole looked charming, and its effective blend of situational humour and emotional reflections on parenthood worked well. However, it suffered from slow pacing during the mid-series, but it succeeded among the Indian family audiences.

Saali Mohabbat (December 12, 2025)

Saali Mohabbat was an impressive, albeit flawed, debut directional venture from veteran Tisca Chopra. While Radhika Apte’s immersive and mesmerising performance did all the heavy lifting, Chopra’s direction also remained crisp. Although a noticeable section of viewers criticised its story, calling it too predictable.

Heartiley Battery (December 16, 2025)

This Guru Lakshman and Padine Kumar starrer emerged as a simplistic and watchable rom-com, benefitting immensely from the chemistry between the leading duo. While the love-meter concept felt underdeveloped and the subplots predictable, its “feel-good” vibe and earnest execution made it a light, relatable choice for easy weekend viewing.

Green (December 17, 2025)

Green is a meticulous psychological thriller lauded for its mind-bending exploration of paranoid schizophrenia and trauma. Viewers loved Gopal Krishna Deshpande’s intense performance and the film’s atmospheric cinematography, which transforms a forest into a chilling symbol of the human psyche. It avoids cheap jump scares and is a standout for fans of gripping and symbolic horror.

Nayanam (December 19, 2025)

Nayanam split audiences with its ambitious sci-fi premise. Supporters hailed Varun Sandesh’s intense OTT debut and the show’s gripping psychological suspense, particularly praising the final episodes and atmospheric BGM. However, criticism has been directed at its predictable police investigations, technical continuity errors, and a disappointing climax.

Kona (December 19, 2025)

Kona, a Kannada folk-horror comedy featuring Komal Kumar and Tanisha Kuppanda, earned a highly polarised reception from viewers. While some lauded the atmospheric production, strong supporting cast, and Komal’s nuanced performance, the remaining ones were more critical. Many felt the script and direction lacked impact, leading to a divide between those who enjoyed the unique blend of folklore and humour and those frustrated by the weak screenplay.

Dominic and the Ladies Purse (December 19, 2025)

This Mammootty starrer earned mixed-to-positive reception from the audience. The leading man’s quirky performance was praised, along with its unique blend of meta-humour and investigation. However, a large section of viewers found the screenplay flabby, containing predictable twists. Despite a slow first half, it was generally considered a passable, above-average thriller for fans of the genre.

Date with Saie (December 19, 2025)

This one endured the wrath of the viewers, who condemned it as a complete rubbish viewing experience. While the casting of Sai Tamhankar was noted, viewers felt the thin storyline lacked enough traction to justify a full series. Marred by plot flaws and a lack of impact, it failed to deliver a satisfying thriller experience for most.

Middle Class (December 24, 2025)

This one emerged as a big win among the viewers, mainly for its relatable and heartwarming portrayal of a Tamil middle-class man. Critics lauded its honest, unromanticised depiction of financial struggle and family bonding. Audiences were deeply moved by the natural performances and the film’s powerful emotional core, calling it a must-watch that respects the silent sacrifices of everyday families.

Vritta (December 25, 2025)

Vritta bagged a more divided response from the audience. While its psychological narrative, sound design, and haunting ambiguity were praised, criticism was aimed at the cluttered execution of the plot, as viewers found some noticeable plot holes in the film. While technically polished, it remains a divisive survival thriller that either deeply unsettles or utterly baffles its viewers.

Ronkini Bhavan (December 25, 2025)

Ronkini Bhavan was received as a nail-biting Bengali thriller, lauded for its rustic atmosphere and social subtext. While some noted it feels like a remake of Ayyana Mane, most praised the restrained lead performance and brilliant score. It’s a slow-burn psychological mystery that trades quick jumps for a lingering, thoughtful discomfort, making it a standout for fans of moody, family-centric thrillers.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat (December 26, 2025)

This Sonam Bajwa and Harshwardhan Rane starrer was blasted for its outdated and extremely cheesy plot. It suffered from cringeworthy acting, overdramatic moments, and sluggish pace, along with overutilisation of slow-mo sequences. This not only lacks any emotional buildup but also will test your patience.
