Mazen Fawzy is an Egyptian screenwriter and director who made a bold transition from studying medicine to pursuing a career in film directing. His debut short film, “The Surrogate,” was showcased at several film festivals, including Ismailia Film Festival, where it earned third prize in the student film category. Before stepping behind the camera, Mazen established himself as a film critic, contributing articles to a wide range of online and print platforms such as Filfan, Raseef, and Ahram Online. He has also written for the bulletins of major Egyptian film festivals, including CIFF, GFF, and LAFF.
Currently, he is working on his second short film, “The Boy Who,” which received a production grant from Mansaat Film Festival. In parallel, he is writing his debut feature film that was developed in Cinephilia Film Development Workroom.
