What Is the Story About?
Anamika (Sunny Leone) and Dr Prashanth (Ayaz Khan) lead a happy life together even though not married. The problem is from Anamika’s side as she can’t remember her past.
The lives of Anamika and Prashanth is shattered when one day, they are attacked in hospital. It leads to the death of Dr Prashanth. Who are the attackers? How did Anamika’s revenge lead her to the past? What did she discover about herself is the movie’s basic storyline.
Performances?
Sunny Leone playing Anamika, a secret agent who has forgotten her past is terrible. She can’t emote and say the dialogues properly with intensity. In short, we see nothing new or rather no improvement from her past work.
However, when it comes to action, Sunny Leone is alright. She passes off a few fight scenes with ease. It isn’t heavy-duty action work, though.
Analysis
Vikram Bhatt directs Anamika. It is an action thriller set in the background of agents, an agency, a minister and some powerful criminals.
The basic premise is lar for the course for an action thriller. There is nothing new, but the framework offers scope for enough, action, thrills and twists. In fact, we have them aplenty in the series. Sadly, none of them leaves an impact.
The biggest issue with Anamika is its terrible writing. It feels non-existent. The characters go through the motions with hallow writing that has no depth and impact. The acting makes them look much worse.
The poor writing is additionally felt as there is no world-building. We move from one set piece to another without any high or connection at all. They just come one after the other and that’s it.
The non-existing writing, world-building, and acting doesn’t allow a gripping narrative. One is never immersed or connected to the proceedings. It’s how the whole thing comes apart.
The climax, like most of the story before offers twists. They don’t have an impact, and some we can see them coming miles away. But, the whole thing ends inconclusively leaving one to wait for the second chapter.
Overall, Anamika is an action thriller that offers plenty of mindless thrills in a story that’s okay for the terrain. However, the miserable writing and acting make it a challenge to sit through in its entirety.
Other Artists?
Sonnalli Seygall follows in the footsteps of Sunny Leone. She too plays an agent and gets to have some action, as well. But, there is nothing to speak concerning the acting. Randheer Rai and Sameer Soni have tough looking yet dumb antagonist parts. Rahul Dev seems to be the only guy having some fun, even though he too looks jaded. They overact whenever the opportunity arises. The rest of the actors like Ayaz Khan, Garrvil Mohan, Shehzad Shaik etc. fail to leave an impact.
Music and Other Departments?
The background score is loud, but it has some punch and brings momentum to the series. Abhishek Shete and Lavesh Avinash Dali take care of cinematography. It is below par. The pulpy action feel which is so desperately tried isn’t seen at all. Kuldeep Mehan and Sudhir Mehan’s editing leaves a messy feel overall. The writing is abysmal.
