What Is the Story About?

Shiv, played by Abhishek Bachchan, lives in the hills with his father and daughter. His wife passed away in a road accident several years ago, and since then he is a changed man.

His daughter Dharaa justifies her name as she is like a stream of water—always active. She is highly influenced by her dance teacher Maggi and wants to pursue it further. Her dance teacher is played by Nora Fatehi.

For a reality show, Dhaara has to move to Mumbai. Will Shiv allow her to?

Performances?

Well, that’s the saving grace of the film. Abhishek Bachchan is a highly talented actor who is currently experimenting with his roles. As a result, we can see him in movies like “I Want to Talk” and now this.

Bachchan has once again proved his acting abilities don’t need any stardom to shine. We must appreciate Inayat Verma. She has worked really well in the film, and thankfully that childish excitement is very much alive in her eyes.

We couldn’t have asked for a better performance from her.

Nora Fatehi is in an ornamental role. She delivers her dialogue mechanically, but there is no doubt that she is an excellent dancer. She has nailed that part.

Analysis

There is a very prominent problem in Remo D’Souza. He is a choreographer on weekdays, a reality show judge on weekends, and somehow a director in the meantime.

Let’s acknowledge the fact that he is not a director and it is visible in his every film.

We still fondly remember dance films like Dil Toh Paagal Hai, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and many more.

What made those dance films resonate with people?

Not just dancing but the way dancing is weaved into the narrative of a common person’s life. This is totally messed up in Be Happy.

If not for the actors, this film is a total disaster. There is absolutely nothing really to watch and enjoy. The character development is very predictable and there is nothing that you would not see coming.

The movie’s screenplay and direction is a total mess.

Bachchan is a typical stoic father who loves his kid but can’t show any affection. He wants Dhaara to focus on studies and these elements make the film a little relatable.

But yet again, it is too basic to deserve any special praise.

Music and Other Departments?

The music of the film is very weak. The songs don’t stand out. Even Sunidhi Chauhan couldn’t save the poor lyrics of the song Sultana. The movie is supposed to be based on music and dancing and it is sad to see this state of music in this film.

The choreography however must be appreciated. It is very catchy and immediately grabs your attention. Well, you should take this granted and thankfully Remo D’Souza must have come handy in the choreography.
