What Is the Story About?

The story of Chhorii 2 takes place 7 years after the first part. Sakshi surrendered to the police after killing her husband, but no body was ever found. That’s why no case was ever substantiated. She gets close to a police officer with whom she starts living. Her daughter Ishani has a rare condition where she can’t go out in the sun. But one fine night, something lures the little girl away. Sakshi, in her expedition, is kidnapped by the villagers, and then begins the social drama of female infanticide and patriarchy.

Performances?

Who is the lead actress? Nushrratt Baruccha.

But who is the show stealer? Soha Ali Khan.

The lady rarely gets an opportunity to act, but she has nailed her part. Nushrratt is a really talented actress, but she has rarely gotten anything to do apart from getting constantly scared in the film. The script is so poor that nobody really got any chance to shine.

However, Soha Ali Khan in the role of Daasi Maa has a lot of weight in the film. The movie is an absolute mess without the chills that her performance brings. We mean her performance strictly; the make-up and CGI are bad.

Hardika Sharma, the child artist, is also very good for her age. The men don’t really have much to do in the film, so we can’t really comment on their performance.

Analysis

Yes, very important. The script of the film is written by two men, and the story is dominated by women. You start feeling this as soon as the film is set up. The script is very, very masculine, and it has nothing to do with a message on women’s empowerment if you look closely.

Actually, it does quite the opposite.

Who is the culprit or the evil force in the film?

Patriarchy and the men like Raja Saheb.

Who is fighting?

The dead woman.

What’s the message?

Women must die in order to fight evil. These dead little girls and women like Daasi Maa are the forces in the film. It is extremely problematic if you see it that way.

However, let’s forget the moral takeaway. Let’s consider only and only the technical part of the story. Even then it is hollow.

How did an entire village get convinced that to prevent the death of a man, a samarpan of a specific bloodline is needed? How did a Raja become dependent on period blood as food?

The whole script and the concept are messed up. The thing is that the movie doesn’t even have jumpscares or just about anything that would add weight to the horror. Perhaps Vishal Furia wanted something fancy to go with it, and yes, the subject is something quite like that.

But the treatment of the film and the outcome we receive are highly questionable. It is not a good horror and definitely not a healthy film.

Music and Other Departments?

The music part is done well. The music, and especially the BGM, raises the tension that the screenplay attempts. The music surrounding certain rituals is also very haunting.

However, the editing and the CGI needed a big-time improvement. It simply doesn’t work in 2025 anymore. It would have been fine in the 2000s, but now it is totally out of fashion.

Did I Enjoy It?

No

Will You Recommend It?

Only if you are a hardcore horror fan.
