What Is the Story About?

The show offers a sneak peek into Uorfi Javed and her life. Her career, her siblings, dysfunctional family and many more. This Keeping Up With Kardashians wannabe reality show offers a look at the internet sensation and her unignorable fashion sense. But does Follow Kar Lo Yaar have anything to show beyond what meets eye? Or is it just another Moving in with Malaika?

Performances?

The main star of the show Uorfi Javed and her constant bickering with her siblings Urusa and Asfi makes for most of the duration with little to no archival footage on the star’s TV days, rise from a dismissed wannabe fashion icon to walking ramp for big fashion designers today. There are footages of Orry, Munawar Faruqui and Prajakta Koli that add no substance to the supposed intent of the show.

Analysis

Directed by Sandeep Kukreja, Follow Kar Lo Yaar is a showreel for the unapologetic, bold and bizzare internet sensation Urfi Javed (now spelled as Uorfi Javed) who attempts for an image makeover through the reality show that spans over 9 episodes.

Follow Kar Lo Yaar promises to be an original, up-close and personal account of Urfi, the – deplorable for many and liked by many – fashion icon popular for her DIY outfits and paparazzi videos. For an indifferent population and her fans alike, the show asserts to have more about her – her struggles, family life and ambitions.

Urfi Javed is a face that almost whole of India now knows – through her outfits and fashion sense. She is bold, fiery, sensational and tacky for many. But what do people know about her beyond her paparazzi videos and fashion? She promises she is more than that and attempts to branch out to a different figure than what she is perceived as.

In Follow Kar Lo Yaar, we see footages from Uorfi’s psychatrist, her family, sisters and some of her colleagues. But unfortunately, none of these appear genuine and original. For a name that’s synonymous to original DIY fashion however tacky they might be, the show is a massive scripted disservice to her fans and haters.

Uorfi yells, shrieks and bickers constantly with her sisters and managers in the show, tossing her desperation to be relevant and ambitions to buy a Range Rover (regardless of its positive or negative aftermath). But little of the conversations and personal accounts from the horse’s mouth hit close home.

In short, Follow Kar Lo Yaar lacks a purpose. It’s neither deeply candid like Keeping Up with Kardashians nor engaging like Moving in with Malaika. It hangs like a scripted and unoriginal show with excessive melodrama and less reality. However, it might serve as a guilty pleasure for the fans of guilt-watch-shows like Bigg Boss, Fabulous Lives of bollywood Wives etc.

Music and Other Departments?

Magesh Madhan’s cinematography doesn’t capture the reality of reality show and often makes this scripted reality show a fake and bore. The music and sound department doesn’t hit any right note either. However, for shows of this nature music is not of much prevalence.

Highlights?

Drawbacks?

Unoriginal

Too dramatic and less real

Did I Enjoy It?

Will You Recommend It?

No. However it might work as a weekend guilt-watch for some.
